Sir Douglas Haig- reports : — We slightly advanced our line to-day south of the Scarpe river. ,:There»..are maaay:: thousands of v German dead on the battlefield we now/occupy. Tho fine weather on Tuesday facilitat ed many successful air raids, and we bombed railway junctions, aerodromes, billets, and dumps. Fifteen German aeroplanes and two balloons were downed. Six British machines are missing.
