SPEECHES AT LUNCHEON

GENERAL SMUTS DENOUNCES THE SCOURGE OF THE WORLD.

LONDON, April 26. At a press luncheon, Mr Massey eulogised the press of the southern hemisphere |or its high tone and fairness. He regretted the paucity of Dominion news m the British newspapers, andi .said better cable communication was required and would be taken up by different Governments. Referring to Anzac Day, he said he hoped Gallipoli wouldi not be left to a foreign country. Sir T. E. Meston said the bringing of the Indian Dominions' representatives into the conference had done much to remove the existing misunderstandings. He hoped the suggestion of a Parliamentary visjt to India would include si. Dominions' delegation and also pres* re- ' presentatives, and that the visit ivniM take place before the next conferen* •".
