CHURCH FETE.
The beautiful grounds surrounding the Waerenga-a-hjka College were the scene >i the annual gathering m connection with the Waerenga-a-hika Church this afternoon.
The fete, although nob of the same' proportions aa previous years, was attended by a fairly large gathering, residents assembling from the surrounding districts, and ; a nuniß^r of visitors also arriving .from town! The function was .avored, by beautiful weather, and the lollege grounds presented a most attractive appearance during the afternoon. I'ho To Karaka Brass Bond was m attendance. The proceeds of the fete will ne devoted Jo the parish |unds. There were the usual stalls, which were well ,>attonised, whilst m the college buildnga a capital entertainment was provided By the college boys under the direction of Mr. W. P. Rangihuna, assiaitftnt master. The boys had been "^pecmlly trained by the assistant master aiwl they gave a creditable performance. Hakaa were performed by eighteen lads, tvho were led by one of tho smallest boys m tho school. In addition to the hakaa the boys contributed several songs, including a solo war dance. Two entertainments were provided during the afternoon. , r There were also various competition^ for the visitors. The stalls were attractively arranged and comprised the following : Mystarjr , stall : Mrs H. Kenway and Miss Tufcker; work stall, Mesdames D. P. Cajneron, A. J. Oameron,. A. Oolebrook;' ap'd MoKenzie; produce, ?£ptall, Mesdamfs Newman, and TJiornltiy Sherratt ; soft drinks, Miss Stuckey ; bran tub : Mrs Sharp ; ice cream, Mrs Ward; sweets, Miss Read. The afternoon tea tables were largely patronised and were tinder the supervision of Mrs P. Read and Miss Lorna Morileman. A .shooting gallery provided great attraction for the boys and was under the charge of Mr Lougher. Children's races were conducted by Mr Goodchap, whilst Miss Jennings had charge of a nail driving competition.
