A Berlin official message says : — We repulsed a British detachment south of Sailly and checked a French attack on Hill 304. A French atack at Poivro Hill failed. The Germans penetrated the French lines near Vaux. .North of St. Mihiels we destroyed dug-out s with their inmates. An Austrian official report claims : In the region of Gorizia we gained a footing in several trenches and inflicted severe losses. We took 665 .'.-prisoners. A German official report, states-: The British attacked north-east of Beaumont, eastward of, Grandecourt, and northward of Courcelette.' A company penetrated in the direction of Beaucourt. The enemy were repulsed elsewhere. We repulsed the - French iu hand-to-hand fighting at Sailly Wpod and on both sides of the Mosselle. We repulsed and are pursuing the Russians northward of Narroz Lake and southeastward of Zlocczow. A French thrunt north-west of Monastir and a British j attack south-west of Lake Doiran failed. I
