A deputation from the cotiton trade waited ou Mr. Roberts at the Board of Trade and urged the development. of cotton growing in suitable parts of the Empire, and the appointment of a Departmental Committee to consider the matter. Mr. Garnab emphasised the cottoiii growing possibilities of Queensland and South Africa. Mr. Roberts said the time was opportune for a careful survey of the question. - Opportunity \Vould possibly be afforded at the coming Imperial Conference to discuss it.. , *mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
