Anatlier call \ws made ior labor to work the small vessels froih Wanganui, but' the xpeh did not respond, consequently' only i few n^eri were taken on, : seven of them for unloading cargo from the relief ship Aurora. The conference before the Conciliation Commissioner was to have taken place to-day , ' but the assessors appointed by the Commissioner to represent the waterside did, not' turn up. Ihe union, however, communicjited -with the Commi&iohser, stating that ( if tlie conference was adjourned until to-morrow the union's assessors would attend. At 'a largely -attended meeting to-day the Waterside Workers' Union decided to work the bbat.s from Wanganui this afternoon, but not necessarily the Ripple, which- is expected to 'arrive from Napier early .-to-morrow morning. • , Pending to-morrow's Conciliation Cunoil proceedings it* is understood ; the Government aro marking -time.
