Advice has been received by the parents of Sergeant R. E'. Learning, N.F.A., to the effect that he had died at the Cbnnaught Hospital, Aldershot, England, on February : 2nd, of disease which had not been diagnosed. Sergeant Looming was the third son of Mr and Mrs C. Leemihg, of Westminster street, St. Albalns. Heywas educated at the Richmond and Normal schools, besides beine a student at; tha Technical and Gilby's Commercial Colleges. He was at one tune ih the office of the Christchurch Tramway Bbard, leaving there -to join the commerciai Jstaff of the Lyttelton Times Company,; of which he waa a member at the time/: of enlisting.
