OPINION IN AMERICA.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, July 24. The Sunday papers publish several striking cartoons indicative of American opinion that the Central Powers are being hopelessly beaten. The newspaper headlines reflect a similar opinion. ' An American cartoon entitled. "Squeezing Him," shows the Kaiser m the grip of a vise, the jaws representing the Eastern and Western fronts, with the muscular arms of the Allien turning the screw. The New York Times publishes a full-page powerful picture, entitled. "The Great Dream," which depicts the phantom triumphal maroh of a skeleton Kaiser m armour astride a shadow horse. Another cartoon, entitled, "The Anniversary of the Great Mistake," show:the dejected Emperor Franz Joseph reading of the Austrian retreat apd recalling his Ultimatum to Serbia as he gazes on the open calendar dated July 23. The New York Times publishes an article by Max Harden, the famous Ger man publicist, bitterly arraigning tinGerman censorship, and complaining ot the authorities' suppression of the strong desire of the people of Germany for peace.
