'A' senior football competition for the Sherratt cup commenced onr Saturday, two matches being -played on the Do-- *" main.i Favoura/ble , weather prevailed! Tl}e games were of ah, interesting na-. \ ture, and although many of the players were, 'green* the matches were keenly contested; and > spectators : can . look forward tto witnessing some excellent football as the competition continues. . The High. Scnool team again met Makauri, who they easily -vanquished the. previous wees. Makauri were stronger on Saturday, ; aud although heavieif than their opponents the High School team had the advantage m the finer points of the game. Both sides attacked frequently and Makauri might have scored several times, but for confusion at the critical time. It was not /until well on m the second spell that "any score was registered, Woodward snapping up the ball that had been dropped by Priestley hear the. line,' 1 and securing a try for. High School. No goal resulted and High School won' by three points to nil. • ' ■.• \, The other game was between teams representing No. 1 and No; 65 com? panics of cadets.
