POVERTY BAY'S AIRCRAFT.
A further change is announced as to the class of machine purchased with the Poverty Bay Aeroplane Fund, as disclosed m the following correspondence received by Mr J. R. Kirk yesterday from the Minister of Deifence: — The Hon. James Allen writes: "I forlrard herewith for your information copy of a despatch received by his Excellency the Governor regarding thei aeroplane presented to the Royal Naval Air Servicefrom the Poverty Bay district, and I] f-.hall be glad if you will communicate tlie information contained therein to those who were instrumental m raising Ifunds for the purchase of tliis gift aeroplane.". The enclosure is as follows': "I have to informi you that a presentation has been made to the R.N. Air Service by the Poverty Bay district of New Zealand and that it has been decided to allocate two of the 1^ Strutter machines on order ! from you for the purpose. I have ac- ' cordingly to request that you will «r : ' range for suitable plates to be affixed , to i£ Strutter machines, Nos. 9400 and j 9401, inscribed as follows : —1916 : This ' machine forms part of a presentation to the Royal Naval Air Service by the Poverty Ray district, New Zealand. Your tender for any extra cost involved m thp provision and fitting of these ' plates should be"" submitted m due ' course. — The Sopwith Aviation Co., Ltd., ' Kingston-on-Thames." Both the Poverty Bay machines are now on active service.
