The New Zealand Soldiers' Club will be opened m Riissell Square on August Ist. The War -Contingent Association has realised the urgency of establishing social headquarters for New Zealanders m France ; a sub-committee has been entrusted to carry out the project, with entire control, the Association providing funds. The sub-committee themselves contributed £500. By ah-arigement Avith -tlie'Yy'aV' Office they have obtained three mansions m a corner block, with, the use o£;.'gardens comprising a square. The^Tnilitary approve of the scheme, providing the' men with' homelike surroundings without military, restrictions. The premises aie within a few minutes of the Record Oflice and War Contingent rooms and Sorithahvpton Row. The Association aims to attract New Zealander* to a good neighborhood, to avoid loitering m the slums. The War Contingent Association will arrange for the reception of the -itt'en and provide J comfortable accommodation for twp hundred men; whilst '-'others will be sent to approved boarding houses m the vicinity. ; >.....,,.-.:• The.* Club will' act as an information bureau and- arrange", for outings.
