Sir Douglas Haig le^orts :— -We have regained a little ground at De-le-Ville Wood and Longueval. The struggle continues. We also pushed forward our line north of Lon^ueval-Bazentin and east oF Liepsio Redoubt. Our bombing parties made, substantial advance at night east of Liepsic Re-' doubt Elsewhere the main battle- is chiefly artillery -fire, with no. y , alterations m positions. -, Tho diary of a Germajl commanding officer shows that from July* 1 to 6 a. Bavarian regiment fighting at Montauban, lost 3000 out of 3600. ; Battalions of 190 th Regiment lost 980 men out of 1100. Two other battalions of the 190 th lost over half their effective* strength.
