EMPIRE DELEGATES IN FRANCE.

ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME. SPEECHES BY FRENCH PRESIDENT AND PREMIER, " (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) PARIS, July 19. ' M. Briarid (French Premier) gave an official luncheon to the British Overseas Parliamentarians at present in France. In the course of a speech, he said : — "My Avelcome is not an ephemeral manufactured courtesy, but an expression of appreciation of a nation making the same sacrifice and united to you by fraternity of arms. The moment Britain drew the sword legions of enthusiastic young men of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa, proud to call themselves citizens of the Empire, traversed the oceans at a bound for their' country's defence and liberty." Referring to the Dominions' assistance to the Empire, he said it was an event in memory which would gloriously he preserved throughout the ages aV a symbol and ideal stretching beyond the frontiers of our continents. President Poincare, in receiving the delegates, said their visit was marked by the fresh shape of the road tho Anglo-French, were travelling, together with tho object of triumph of right, liberty, and closer union and fruitful collaboration. There was no longer any question of distance, and considerations of space had vanished. We were forever united in thought -and feeling. (Received July 20, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, July 10 M. Gustav Herve, writing in La Victoire, states c "Our popular instinct from the first taught us to reserve a special place in our hearts for these Australasians, South' Africans, and Canadians who came from the other end of the world to fight on our side."
