AUSTRALIAN CASUALTIES.
(Received July 20 12.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 20. The latest list of wounded includes Lieutenant J. F. Lang, formerly of Palmerston North, slightly.
Private J. D. Jones, of the Army Ordnance Corps, who is shortly proceeding abroad on military duties is the only man in the British Army with a wooden leg, says the London Daily News. He belongs to Liverpool, stands 6ft and is 23 years of age. He presented himself at the recruiting office, and made no concealment of his artificial limb, being marched before the doctor with a wooden leg displayed. Jones gave such proof of his physical stamina and marching power that he was accepted, and has been heartily congratulated on joining the army.
