The Cologne correspondent of the newspaper Debeod says : On all sides it is becoming apparent that not a sincrle German aim will be achieved. Tho military operations on the West frort are severely criticised, particularly the death march towards Verdun. ' The Crown Prince is openly accused of useless accumulation of troops, impeding a
' victorious offensive- on aiml-ho - front. I'i is admitted that the Germans, above all also, fear an English -French offensive at fresh points on the front, for which Germany has insufficient reserves. The Germans say every man. in. Kitchener's armies seems to be a sharpshooter with courage equal to that of the best trained soldiers. Trones Wood is a vast German graveyard, more men being sacrificed there than at any point of the retreat.
