MYSTERIOUS FIRE.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. , A close investigation of all the circumstances surrounding the fire at Government House on Saturday night has failed to reveal any clue as to the origin of the outbreak. It is understood that experts who havo viewed the gutted . structure increasingly incline to the .belief that it cannot effectively be rpstored without complete re-building, for, apart from the estimated cost of tho work; — some £6000 or £7000 (exclusive, of course, of furnishing), the building is looked upon as being out of date and totally unsuitable for a modern viceregal residence. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
