NEW COUNCILLORS TO BE AP ' POINTED. DISAGREEMENT OVER MILITARY SERVICE BILL. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. An amendment of the Legislative Council Act was introduced m the Council this afternoon. It postpones the operation of the elective principle as applied to the Council till 1920. As soon as the Bill passes a number of new,£^pointments will b 6 made to the preseS^ Council, The conference of managers appointed by both Houses to consider disagreements m the Military Service Bill has been unable to agree, the House managers conceding the retention of a cen- j tral appeal board but insisting on, the deletion of the clause exempting religious objectors from military service. New managers will accordingly have to be appointed.
