MATAWHERO STOCK SALES

There was a large attendance at the Matawhero saieyards yesterday, frhen the local stock auctioneering firms conducted their fortnightly sale. The attraction was no doubt a line of pedigree bulls offered by Messrs Common, Shelton and Co., on behalf of Messrs < Hutchinson Bros. The pans included a] line of about 400 head o^f cattle from Whakatane. The sale was one of the best of. the season, there being a keen demand for all classes of sheep and cattle. Prices fpr sheap- were well maintained at recent prices, while in the cattle pens prices were in advance. A feature of the sale was a line of prime fat bullocks offered by Messrs Dalge'ty and Co., on behalf of the late H. D. Buchanan's estate, which realised from £15 15s to £17 17s. Lighter bullocks brought from £11 5s for fats, .stores from £8 ss ; , fat cows brought from £12 5s *to £15 7s 6d, stores from £7.- Heifers brought from £7 15s to £8 15s, steers £6 2s 6d to £8 12s 6d> weaners £2 10s, calves' 36s to 395. Shorn hoggets realised 13s for culls, medium sorts to 15s, and better sorts to 18s 6d ; woolly hoggets realised up to ,19s and 20s ,6d; 4 and 6-tooth ewas brought front -23s to 255 ; ewes in lamb 245; wethers, brought from 23s 6d to 265, and to 29s 6d for good forward, lines. - ' /.-.-.
