NEW ZEALAND'S EFFORT.
WELLINGTON, this day. As Mr Bonar Law's statement m the House of Commons, cabled on the 12th, appeared to put New Zealand m an invidious position, tho Defence Minister took steps to ascertain, if the report of what was said was correct. To-day the Minister received a reply from Mr Bonar Law, stating that what, he had said was that New Zealand would have despatched about 36,000 men at the end of January, 1916, not June. That, said Mr Allen, is nearer the mark.
