MOTOR CAR CAPSIZES.

i_*fc , OCCUPANTS INJURED. ; ACCIDENT AT SUMNER, On 7 Tuesday afternoon Mr and Mrs Morley Thompson, of Wellington, who were visiting Christchurch m. connection with the bowling tournament, and Mr and Mre H. Davies, of Sydenham, were motoring through Sumner, and were turning round under the cliffs at Bell's Baths, just beyond ihe tea kioßk, when the car got out of hand, and, running over the side of the road, which at this point is washed at high water by the sea, turned a somersault on to the rocks below, and then turned over amongst the boulders m the sea. Mr Davies and Mr Thompson were pinned under the car, and had some difficulty m keeping above water, while the ladies, who were riding m the" back, were thrown clear of the wheels into the water. The accident was witnessed by some lads playing on the sand, and while one rushed for medical assistance the other helped Mr Davies m various ways. Several residents arrived and succeeded m raising the car and releasing Messrs Davies and Thompson. Tlie former was found to have a badly injured wrist and arm, but the latter appeared to be more seriously injured, and he could only be removed to the roadside, where he was temporarily accommodated on the rocks with rugs, etc. Mrs Thompson escaped with a severe shaking, but Mrs -Davies was badly cut about the face, and bruised about- the chest. Thc -jufferers were finally taken home m taxicabs. Tiio car was, sufficiently repaired to be towed to town. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm*
