In regard to the oversea tonnage supply, the Prime Minister states that whilo there is undoubtedly a scarcity of refrigerated tonnage, according to thn information supplied by the Government to the Board of Trade matters arc im proving, and will continue to improve for some time to come. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. At a meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce J,his afternoon to consider the question of shipping space, t-iie following resolution was passed: "That the Government bo urged to create a now portfolio and appoint a Minister of Commerce, whether a member of Cabinet or otherwise, who shall be president of the. Overseas Committee which nt present allocates space, to see that justice is done to alj shippers'." WELLINGTON * last night. A deputation representing Auckland interests will wait upon tho Prime Minister on Wednesday to make representations with regard to the shipment of meat. The members of the deputation will urge that" the northern province has not received all the space to which it is entitled. ' Mr Masfley, m mentioning this matter to a representative of ■ the New Zealand Times this evening, said that ho thought he wpuld bo able to convince this deputation, as he had convinced other representatives of provincial interests, that the Government had dono the best possible under the peculiar circumstances created by the war. "One result of the shipping trouble ought to be ah /improvement i« the provision 'for the storage of frozen meat," added the Prime Minister. "Down m Canterbury they have erected, within two months, a xefrigerating storo capable of holding 80,000 carcases. If there were more stores, the Dominion could face a temporary shortage of ships without anxiety." .. (
