A TEMPORARY GAIN.
AMSTERDAM, June 2. The Russians are reinforcing Przemyal and the Jower front by three army corps. PETROGRAD, June 2. Official: The enemy on the left bank of the Vistula on Sunday night developed an active artillery fire on the whole front northward of Pilitza. At 4 o'clock m the morning, under cover of smoke. and using gas extensively, they attacked m great strength our position on the Bzura, near Urtkovifyza, Brohow, Sochaczeff, and/ Koslow. The attack was characterised by extraordinary tenacity. Oil the Lower Rawka, notwithstanding gas, the fumes of which were perceptible 19 miles behind our fort, all attacks wqre repulsed. v The enemy m Galjcia attacked forts 7 to 11, westward and north-westwad'd of Przeiriysl. They approached on Sunday night within 200 paces and gained a footing m the precincts ; of Fort 7. There Avas an obstinate battle until the afternoon of Monday, when they were repulsed with enormous losses. Twenty -three officers and 300 men who entered the fort were taken, prisoners. The Germans brought reserves into the battle of Stryj, and the result is not yet known. Our success at Svitza continues, and we have already sent 10,660 prisoners to the rear,! including 28 officers.
