GISBORNE'S QUOTA TO LIVERPOOL'S OWN.

LEAVING TO-MORROW

A draft of 47 men proceed south by to-morrow evening's steamer' en route to Trentham to provide uisborne's quota to the Trentham Regiment ("Lord Liverpool's Own.") The men are required to report themselves at the Garrison Hall jat 6 p.rd. tomorrow, and will proceed to the wharf (accompanied by tne City Band) about 7 p.m. . They are being presented with the usual outfit of personal comforts by the ladies" 'committee, whilst the men themselves are requested to provide themselves with toilet gear, a spare blanket, and a change of underclothes. The following men-, have been finally selected to proceed ' South to-morrow evening _—• "■ Stanley Rich. Hugh Edward Wood. Michael Davis. William Harold Stone. John Geoffrey Craster. Wm. James Drysdale. Jas. Arthur Wolstenholme. John W. McKay. Frederick Somerton. Albert Capel. Wm. Montague Glenham. Louis Carey Parker. Wm. Henry Fitzmaurice. ; Richard Eddy. Frank John Richard. Hans Edward Ericksen. Robert Knox. Frederick Hugh , Stanley, Colin Sydney Williama. A. Wimm. ' Allan John Norris. .*. Vincent Farrington. Hugh Michael Bra_for_ . Ormond Morris. Joseph Albert Cole. Thomas Wells Hanna. George McNeely. -Herbert Newsham. v „" Thomas o*Grady. . ■;'■•; Abel Coquor.; Charles , Brush. Charles -Stokes. ■'■'.->,- Stanley Herbert _. orris. Robert Arundel Edwin TrailL - , Charles Traill. • 'William Goymour. ■-,". .Henry Arthur Findlay. Arthur Cleave. Arthur Hubert Pellow. * Birkett, . German. Frederick John Crafts. V Edward V. Glover. .-■-'.. George Murray. "'-. i ■" Robert Arthur Morrison. PirUibßjarrett. Theodore Fellows Akroyd.

Edwin V:.. Glover, who has "been 'called on to-day;: to replace another man who is unable to. leave with the present draft, is a surveyor's assistant, residing at Gisborne," ;i ' .*' MANf '^ECIWiTS OFFERING. There was quite a boom m recruiting to-day," when more recruits _*egistered than during the whole of the week. The recent references that liave appeared m these ' coluuins to the urgency: of the Empire's 'cStt has starred, tip bur-, yoiiheVmen to; . a,, sense of their responsibilities. Most of to-dayfs recruits were y<n>iig; men from the ' country.. They included about a dozen Ormond men, who,- are anxious to all go together. The next medical examination will take place on Friday evening, and there will probably .be, a _nibstantial number added to the list of ; recruits already accepted for service, •*. . At the ' present time there are .nearly 170, men' who have been passed as fit, and who are ready to join the . colors at ' almost a day's .notice. r To-morrow's draft ,ws*l only represent a portion of these, and tlie next men to get away will be the/ 7th Reinforcements on Jnne 10, for which only 15 mounted and 23 infantry are at present required as Gisborne's quota. It is likely, however, the district will' De called on to make up Otago _ share. After that the. next draft will not leave until the end of July, and; consequently the men now enlisting,, have, little. ; chance :„of .getting away W'.twro months. This fact was the occasion, of keen disappointment amongst many of to-day's recruits, and the position only too clearly emphasises the necessity for a change m v the present method, : ; oke_ thing, too, it demonstrates,. Gisborne is still rxsore than able to supply- its share of men m the Empire's c_use. "■'-.,'.-. Sorgeatit-Major Andrews \ w»s kept busy, all* day enrolling ' volunteers, and at 2.30 this afternoon there were fully 20 men waiting to . register their names. To-day's; 'recruiting easily constitutes a record. . - : '■;..'-.
