EXPEDITIONARY REINFORCEMENTS.

GISBORNE'S QUOTA TO LIVERPOOL'S OWN.

LEAVING TO-MORROW

A draft of 47 men proceed south by to-morrow evening's steamer' en route to Trentham to provide uisborne's quota to the Trentham Regiment ("Lord Liverpool's Own.") The men are required to report themselves at the Garrison Hall jat 6 p.rd. tomorrow, and will proceed to the wharf (accompanied by tne City Band) about 7 p.m. . They are being presented with the usual outfit of personal comforts by the ladies" 'committee, whilst the men themselves are requested to provide themselves with toilet gear, a spare blanket, and a change of underclothes. At the ' present time there are .nearly 170, men' who have been passed as fit, and who are ready to join the . colors at ' almost a day's .notice. r To-morrow's draft ,ws*l only represent a portion of these, and tlie next men to get away will be the/ 7th Reinforcements on Jnne 10, for which only 15 mounted and 23 infantry are at present required as Gisborne's quota. It is likely, however, the district will' De called on to make up Otago _ share. After that the. next draft will not leave until the end of July, and; consequently the men now enlisting,, have, little. ; chance :„of .getting away W'.twro months. This fact was the occasion, of keen disappointment amongst many of to-day's recruits, and the position only too clearly emphasises the necessity for a change m v the present method, : ; oke_ thing, too, it demonstrates,.
