DEFACED EARMARKS
i (Per Press ; Association.) TIMiVKU, last night. '■>• The hearing, of evidence in the charge of sheep-steaung against Robert Guthrie, of Mount Nessing, Albury, was concluded .to-day, and counsel were heard. Mr Justice Denniston sums up in the morning. ■•.. Accused and his sons, who assist him, denied altering earmarks. . Accused said he believed this had been done to injure him, but be was advised not to name anyone. An important point for the defence was that some of the defaced earmarks did not convert the marks to accused's.
The defence called witnesses to prove ill-feeling on tho part of complainant towards accused, and this was replied to by similar evidence on the other side.
