Caher Davon made a false start, but eventually the horses moved off on even terms. Smilax showed out first, followed by Glouria, with Kigo Park and Master .Tinii next, and Lord Possible brought tup the r«u\ All the horses exceut Lord Possible were pretty well bunched when they entered the straight, with SSmilax in front. A great finish was fought out in the run home. Glouria came through on the rails, and Master Timi ' and Caher Davon emerged from the bunch. Glouria gained the. verdict •by half a length, whilst Caher Davon, with a late run, only failed to .beat the lightweight by a nose. Rock Ferry and Rigo Park finished, next. Stnilax, who had been outpaced in the chase, was fifth, and Lord Possible last. Time, 1.30.

Along * the western side Despatch Carrier joined the light weight in <the van. Approaching the bend. Multiply began to creep up, and in the straight made a grea<t run and won by a length. One length separated second and third horses. Time, 1.42.

When tho horses returned to the birdcage there was a wild demonstration from a section of the crowd, whilst an ovation was given by many admirers. A protest has been entered by tho owner of Lady Alicia- against % Despatch Carrier for alleged interference during the race.

Up to and inclusive of the fourth race the totalisator investments amounted to £7312. as against £5798 for the same races last year.
