Beautiful weather prevailed to-day for the continuation of the Gisborne Racing Club's summer meeting at the Park racecourse. There was again a large attendance. * A large number of the visitors were conveyed to the course by rail, whilst the taxis and cabs were kept busily engaged, making Childers road a scene of much animation. Nothing was wanting in the manner in' which the general arrangements were attended to, t lie multifarious duties devolving upon the secretary (Ma- H. E. Dodd) and his efficient -staff being ably carried out, whilst the other officials aiso performed their duties in a- satisfactory manner. Some interesting racing was expected during the afternoon. Music was again supplied by Messrs Vita Bros., whilst an 'excellent luncheon was provided, by Mr J. Erskine.

SECOND HANDICAP HURDLES, of 120 sovs.j second horse to receive 15 sovs. and third horse 10 sovs. out of stake. One mile and three-quarters. Mr H. Neagle's eh g Bravest, aged, by Coeur de Lion Rasulka, 10.10 (McMillan) 1 Mr H. Larmer's b g Ambergris, 9.4 (F. Cress) 2 Mr W- S. Davidson's b g Chatmos, 11.7 (F. Flynn) 3 — Also started: Multiano 9.0 (A. ]). Adams). Ambergris took the lead fron} the start, with Multiano and Bravest next., and Chatmos last. At the first hurdle Multiano stumbled and unseated her jockey. When the horses passed the stand Ambergris was two lengths in front of Bravest, whilst Chatmos was two lengths in the rear. This order remained unchanged until the trio left the back stretch, when Bravest overhauled Ambergris, and making a better leap at the next jump went to the front. Chatmos fell, and the rider (Flynn) hurt his leg. 'Bravest gradually drew away from Ambergris, and won by several lengths. Mr W. S. Davidson, owner of the top-weight, mounted his horse and went back, and jumping the last hurdle secured third money. Time, 3.21£.

"Mr Skipwith effected a beautiful sjtart, and an exciting race ensued. Lady Cook made the early running, but the top-weight went to the van after the horses loft the back stretch, and Potentiality and Te Araroa also moved forward. ' King of Athol maintained the premier position, and although hotly challenged in the home stretch by three other horses, succeeded in passing the post half a length in front of Te Araroa, who, haying tile outside running, bent Pptentiality by n similar distance. Faletone came* with a great dash^ and was only beaten by Mr ShorrattVgeldini: by a nose. Maryland was last. Time/ 1.2 1-5.

The Summit made the running over the first furlong, and the four horses entered the back stretch pretty well iiii a, bunch. Perhaps then went ahead, and the other horses lined out in this order : The Summit, Dasher Boy, and Multikoff. In the run home the top- weight came on the outside, but Perhaps stnlled off the challenge, and won by four lengths. Only half a length separated second and third horses, whilst Dasher Boy was several lengths in the rear. Time 1.43 1-5.
