Messrs Roberts and Co. have received the following Teport from their London .house, Messrs Sanderson; Murray and Co. :— The fifth series of colonial wool sales, which opened, on 6th October, closed on the 10th October. There was a very large' attendance of buyers, and strong competition during the series. CompariAl with opening rates, the market generally has shown an advance on E rices then current, and closes at the ighest point of tlie series. Compared with the closing rates of the July sales we quote : — Merino : Good 5 per cent, lower, inferior 10 per cent, lower. Greasy, crossbred : Fine 6 per cent. [ higher, medium «to coarse 10 per cent, higher. All scoured and; aliped crossibreds have been m exceptional demand, [ and have advanced 20 to 25 per cent. The next series of sales for this year are fixed to commence as follows :— November 3 ; new arrivals up to September 30 admitted. December 8; new arrivals up to November 30 admitted. For 1915, Ist series January 19; new arrivals up to 11th January admitted, and if required, as circumstances detey-i mine, monthly sales thereafter. The number of bales offered during tlie series was 46,432, of which 4623 bales, equal to 9.47 per cent., were brought m and it is estimated that, including 8000 bales not offered, about 11,000 bales are being held over.
