ALLIES' COUNTER-ATTACK.
FRENCH REINFORCEMENTS. STJ3GE WARFARITIN ARGONNES. (Received November 18, 8.45 a.m.) PARIS, Nov. 17. The Allies' counter-attack m Dixmude district is progressing. Fresh French , troops have been strengthening some weak points. Some Belgian troops, all of whom .have been fighting heroically, have been sent to Paris, and French troops substituted. It is semi-oflicially stated that the fighting m the Argonne district has not appreciably altered during the past two months. Some of the trenches are only fifty yards apart. All expedients at siege warfare are practised. The German losses greatly exceed those of the French. We occupy the district around Verdun, and have gradually advanced five to ten kilometres beyond the line held a month ago.
