NEW YORK, May 28. A dramatic story, of how, to save the late Mr J.. Pierpont Morgan from prosecution, he assumed entire responsibility for' the .violation of the Sheman AtofoiTrust' Law • dl^d ' allowed (himself- to be criminally indicted, was narrated by Mr Mellen, t'he, former: president of th( New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railway to the ' Inter-State Commerct Commission. . For this action, "Mr : Mellen said^ the eldei- Mr ; Morgan ; was alone responsible, ;but realising' that 'the shook of the indictment would « probably • kill the' great banker, Mr " Mellen wrote a letter prepared for him by, Mr Morgan's lawyer, m which -heiassumed all responsibility.' As a result of this letter, Mi Mellen. was criminally indicted.
