GISBORNE COMPETITIONS.
Much interest is being, evinced m the Gisborne- 'Boxing Association's "tournament " which •' commences at-, the Opera House to-night., This .. evening's ..programme will consist of -heats' m- the amateur • championships, for/ : which excellent entries have boon received..^.. Also the heavy-weight professional contest of ten rounds between v Fred Williams (Tolaga Bay). and Viv, Lowe (Gisborne). The con,test is for a purse of £40 (including expenses). The contestants are reported to be m good' fettle, and with the improved condition of .the amateurs some interesting exhibitions should be witnessed. Mr W. O'Connor will again act as referee.
