THE GOLDEN FLEECE.
The city will make your fortune, Put .country joys away, And travel in haste to the city, Then . grub there night and day. Kill • sympathy and pity, The, joys of . youth and play, ' And the city will make your fortune In the insolent city way.
And what ii^ the city foi;tnne That coiuitry hearts would hold? Harsh, clangor of life in the city, Grim lust for the fleece- of gold — While. the world looks on in pity, As it has since the. days, of old, When, first for a. mess of pottage Was the birthright of Esau sold.
