A of the committee was held yesterday, when New Zealand was, xepresented; by Mrs Herbert Alington, to whose- exertions so much of the success attending • the Dominion's, pitch in Whitehall last year was duQ. # Mrs Alington is now busily engaged, in getting together a strong band. of New.Zealand ladies for Rose Day. The Dominion has been allotted 'the whole of Whitehall, the Strarrd as far as thq- Hotel Cecil, and a, pitch at the Mansion House. ThQ ladies, who will invade the streets as sellers' of Tosesj will be dressed in \Vhito, with whit© or. light'colored' hats trimmed with . wroatha of, the . cam-, blera of, the da'y, their o,wn contribution to the, funds. These wreaths vary in price from 1b 6d to sa. ' There . were about 15,000 Alexandra Day, womijn and. girls in Lpndon last yeai ; . This year it is expected that there will be nearer 20JOOO. A feature will<bs a motor-car floral procession, in which several hundred jnotor r cars' Ayill probably, take part. The cars and their drivers will bo decorated with roses, and a> charming spectacle ahould result. Last year £84-,608 - was collected in London, while £25*000 was the total realised m. th.Q, provinces. . The Central Committee irir London, supphes the Alexandra roses, baskets, sashes, .'and collecting boxes to the local committees. "Rose Day" secures a doubly charitable result, ' since the flowers are made by the cripples and blind inmates of the Cripplegate, Clerkenwell, and the money collected goes to hospitals.
