TWO-STEP OF VICTORY.

HOW VILLA'S MEN CELEBRATED THE FALL OF A CITY.

NEW YORK, April 6 r After eleven days' desperate fighting, Torreon last night fell finally into the handß of General Villa, the Mexican rebel, who has now full control of territory twice as large as the British Isles. According to General Villa, the rebel forces lost 600 killed and 1500 wounded. He estimates the losses to President Huerta's troops at 1000 killed and more than twice that number wounded. In a message to his "supreme chief," General Carranza, he intimates that the enemy has been practically exterminated with the exception of General Velasco and a body of troops who "unfortunately" escaped, cutting theiv way through the. south-western gateway of t he city. Thus ends the most formidable engagement yot fought in Mexico since the rise of General Villa a little over a year ago from the comparative obscurity of a bandit's life. The victory was celebrated flt Jaurez last night in a series of bacchanalian scenes in which ' women danced the two-stop with Mexican soldiers until the early hours of tho morning. , The battje line was four miles long, the field being determined' by the three great hills. General Huerta's troops had fortified the hills with rifle pits, trenches and barbed wire entanglements. Many of the wounded, owing to the difficult nature of the ground, died where they fell from thirst and lack of attention. Both, sides used armored train*. .
