News from St. John, New Brunswick, | states tliat miles of forest fires aro threatemng villages along- the Canadian Pacific Railway, sweeping the country bare for ten miles wide. Farmers' homes have been destroyed. There have been narrow escapes, bnt no loss of life is reported.
