NINE MEN KILLED.
EXPLOSION AT BRIDGE WORKS
(Press Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) (Received April 7. 11.35 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 6. Nine' persons were killed at Memphis, Tennessee, when gas exploded a caisson used in the construction of the new bridge across the Mississippi. A tube M-as driven tnto a gas pocket, after a gang of whites had replaced ten negroes. The dead and injured were removed in boats ot the hospital.
