EXPLOSION AT BRIDGE WORKS

Nine' persons were killed at Memphis, Tennessee, when gas exploded a caisson used in the construction of the new bridge across the Mississippi. A tube M-as driven tnto a gas pocket, after a gang of whites had replaced ten negroes. The dead and injured were removed in boats ot the hospital.
