COMPULSORY CONFERENCE. S(Press Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) (Received- Feb. 9, 9.50 a.m.)* MELBOURNE, February 9. It is anticipated that a compulsory conference to deal with the wharf men's trouble will be summoned to-day. The shipowners are credited with a desire to > fight the Labor Federation on the lines of the New Zealand strike. Tho owners declare that a cheek mustbe put to the men's exorbitant demands, even though it may mean a great loss. Many are determined to grant no increases excepting through the Arbitration Court.
