Shortly after 6.30* p.m. on Saturday a man named George ,Wes^ott, well •known about Cliristchurch,' ran out of the Ricparton raceourrse gate to try to catch a' tramcar. He missed his hold and . fell, and was run oyer by the trailer. He was taken- to^ the . hospital at once,- but was dead : when .adhritted.
