FATAL FIRE.
— ♦■ (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night, A privato boarding-house m Dixon street, occupied by L.-t Bolton, Was gutted by fire about 8 o'clock to-night, and. T subsequently the . charred remains of a mail were found. One man who was m the house when the fire broke out is reported to have escaped through i a window and disappeared. The- -insurances, it any, are not at present ascertainable. Tlie -plan. burned was James Martin, aged' 27, a soil of the landlady (Mrs Bolton), by a former marriage. Bolton and his '""wife state that they left the ; house at 7.15 p.m., when all was,apparently safe. "• * T/he, .building was owned by Mrs Townsehd,' T of Auckland.
