RIVER BOARD.

A meeting of the Poverty Bay River Board was held to-day. . "there being present: Messrs G. Witters- (chairman), A. Dewing, and H. G. Tucker.* The Chairman said the main object of the meeting was to get the machinery m order, so they could collect the rates. The overdraft, which they had guaranteed had exceeded the limit, and they should reduce it to within reasonable bounds. It would be necessary to pass the following resolution: '"that the secretary be instructed to notify that it is the intention of the Board "to make the following rates on the lauds comprised m the. C ml: Such ratjes being for 'the period of one year ending 31st March, 1914, and to: , lie payable on'-' or before the 28th February, 1914, and that the rate-book is • open for inspection at tbe Board's office, 12 Childers road, be tween the hours of 10 a;m. and noon and 2 n.m. and 4 p.m. daily, excepting Saturdays, on • which day the office closes at uoon> and excepting holidays." On the motion of - the chairman, seconded by Mr Dewing, the above resolution was passed. The usual resolution regarding an overdraft amounting to £700 was passed.
