SCORE POINT.
(To the Editor of tne Herald.) Sir, — It has just occurred to me as a final reminder to the public of Gisborne that Score Point, of /some ten acres, is to be sold by public auction on the 14th ! inst. In my opinion the matter of public domains near the town have been sadly overlooked m the past by the various local authorities, for the people's benefit m their leisure hours. Sir, 1 respectfully point out that Score Point is now the only available river frontage m the town upon which could be erected bathing sheds, boating sheds for pleasure, tennis courts, etc., and the ground 'generally laid oufc m a taßteful manner if secured. As secretary of the Beautifying Society, I appeal to the gentlemen of means m Oisborno and surroundings to secure from the trustees of the late Mr Score's estate, before the date mentioned, the property for a public domain, and I venture to «ay that whoever comes forward as public benefactors that, their names as citizens will be remembered for all time. — lam, etc., H, E. HILL, Hon. sec. Beautifying Society.
