A suggestion that New Zealand should join wnth Australia- in establishing a fund with which to send an Australasian team of athletes to compete at the Olympic ganies iQ Berlin; m 1916 is contailed m a letter' ivhich the Mayor (Mr G. Tlie letter "mentions that at a large gathering of influential citizens held at Sydney it was decided that such a fund should be established, each, of the Australian States and, New Zealand starting funds, the pi'oceeds of which might be placed together m an Australasian fund, when the time came for selecting a team from the various parts of Australia and "New Zealand. Mr Parr remd^ed to a reporter that providing it was possible for New Zealand to join m the Australian movementon a satisfactory basis, he thought the suggestion might be trorth acting upon.
