GISBORNE CLUB. The trial fours for the A grade (C. I Adair's) trophies and B grade (Nichoils , and Griffiths') trophies were continued on the Waimata course last night. i A grade.-— A. G. Gerrard (str.). G. Porter (3), C. Devery (2), R. Sweet (bow), beat 1. J. Quigley (str.). A. Gardiner (3). ( P. Fromm (2), and A. A, Quigley (bow), j Both crews raced evenly to the new bridge, but from there Gerrard had a slight lead all the way, and won by a length. t The next race was P. McConvflle, PDuoson, J>. Hutton, A. Fyson v. R. Pycroft, O. Solvander, F. Stevenson and J. " Mackle. These crews raced very evenly 1 all the way down, but when a few yards of the finishing post Pycroft's coxswain steered over into McConville's course, and fouled. The race ' will be rowed over again to-night. ) | B grade.— A. L. Winter, Douglas, J. Somerton and Grumbley beat H. M. Puflett, G. Davis, A. McLaughlin and R. Ambridge after a good race by half a length. I The next race was between S. RichaTds. Jack Somerton, J. Parminter and Herwel (bow), and D. H. Faram, G. Bremner, Milne and Sandorcy. Faram got a slight lead at the start, and at the bridge had about half "a length. Here Richards spurted, and raced even with Faram until near the , finishing post. Richards then put m a final spurt, and won by a fiuarter of a length. In the A grade McConville rows Pycroft to-night, and the winner meets Gerrard m the final to-morrow night. The semifinals will be rowed off in,the B 'grade to-night. ' i
