insulting Reference to FLAG.

A deputation of French residents m Sydney waited on the French Consul, and expressed indignation at Mr Glynn (Minister for External Affairs), allowing an insulting reference to be made to the French flag m his presence \vithout prolest. The deputation complained, according to a newspaper report that one of the numbers of the deputation of Presbyterian missionaries .who waited on Mr GyTin at- Melbourne on the 18th inst. with reference to affairs in A 'th-a New Hebrides said : ."We are almost ashamied to have the British flag entwined
with the 'Frenchv flag m the islinds,' and tho Minister allowed this flagrant breach of international etiquette to pass without demur.
