TOUGH BEEF TROUBLE

INVERCARGILL, last night. At the Supreme Court, m the slander c&se Janet Reid v. David McDougall, a claim for £50, the Judge said it was simply a case of oath against oath,.and x gave judgment for defendant. Alexander Currie claimed £50 from L. Neill and G. E. Griffiths for libel, m which it was alleged that plaintiff supplied tough meat and had a tough bull which he intended to sell as prime. His Honor said, however jocular the terms might be, the statement reflected not only on the quality of plaintiffs beef, but on his character". Judgment was given for £20, . withxiosts. -■':
