GISBORNE ROWING CLUB.

■The thirty-ninth annual general meeting of the Gisborne Rowing Club was held at the Masonic Hotel last n^ght, Mr C. W. Muir (vice-president) being m the chair.

The report and balance-sheet (as already published) were adopted.

Iri moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman congratulated members on the satisfactory financial position of the club, and m viewing the past season's work dealt with the main Items m the balance-sheet. It was suggested by the chairman that a popular concert be worked up, to bo held on the evening of the official opening of the season. In concluding ' Mr Muir impressed on members the necessity of looking after the plant during the season, and also suggested that m view of the bank overdraft members would greatly / assist by paying their subscriptions as early as possible.

The officers elected for the ensuing year were:— President, Mr' Chas. Buscke; vicepresidents, Messrs T. J. Adair, W. Miller, C. W. Muir. R. D. B. Robinson, W. F. Cederwall, and C. Adair; captain, Mr D. Cowan; vice-captain, Mr H. P. Hamilton; hon. secretary, Mr D. Hutton; hon. treasurer, Mr I. J. Quigjey; hon. auditors, Messrs R. D. B. Robinson and A. M. Coleman; committee, Messrs G. O. Hansen, C. R. Moore, A. G. Gerrard, B, C. Jeffries. R. J. Pycroft, and D. H. .Faram; vicepresident to 11. 8. Rowing Association, Mr R. Puflctt; delegates to H.B.Jlowing Association, Messrs R. Myhill and'W. Stock. A- letter was received |frortf Mr I^. V. Gully, regretting his iriitfbility to be prosent, »and that owing to pressure of business he would not be able to find time to take office this season.

Mr Cowan, m returning thanks for being elected captain for the ensuing year, stated he would do everything in* his power to forward' the interests of the club, and asked members to assist him m every way possible. He announced that any Infringements of thp by-laws would be rigidly dealt with, m conclusion Mr powan announced that it was his intention to donate trophies for four-oar rowing.

A trophy was offered by the Gisborne Publishing Co. for double-sculling.

Mr T. Fahey was proposed as an honorary member.

At the conclusion of the meeting a vote 6t thanks was proposed to the chairman, Mr Pettie. and the outgoing committee. After the annual meeting the new committee met. and it was decided to go on with the working up of the proposed concert. The weekly meeting night was fixed for Friday, at 7.30 p.m.
