Owing to the Hunt Club races being held to-morrow 'the usual fortnightly Stock sales were held at the Matawhero yards, to-day. : The yarding was on the small side. There was a good attendance. ; Messrs Dalgety and Co. and Common. Shelton and Co. yarded 600 sheep, 100 cattle and 23 pigs. They commenced their sale at 10 o,'clock with fat sheep. The entry included al ine of prime hgavy wethers, which brought 26s— a -record. The sales were:— ll wethers 225, li do. 265, 11 do. 225, o ewes 20s. Fat cattle: 20 cows were offered and sold at £5. Pigs: The small entry offered was easily disposed of, as. follows: 10 porkers 255, 7 small pigs lis, 6 slips 65. . • Messrs .Williams and Kettle and the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. offered 2500 sheepi 100 cattle, aud 22 pigs. They • commenced their sale with fat sheep,* for which there was a? fair-de-mand, wethers< bringing 22s and ewes 20s 3d. The sales, were: 8 ewes 18s 6d. 18 wethers 225, 9 ewes 17s 6d. 10 ewes 20s 3d, 25 fat hoggets 15s 3d. Fat cattle were offered next. /Only. six head were put up, of which five sold. One prime cow £11, 3 Pteers £5 2s 6d, 1 cow £6. Pigs: 1 sow 325, 1 barrow 255, 3 young pigs' 15s, 2 pigs 16s; 15 pigs passed m.

Store sheen were offered at ll o'clock, the entry including mostly hoggets, for which there was a good demand, competition being keen. The top price was 20s; wethers brought up to 21s. The sales were: 19 fcoggets , 15s Bd, 0 small do. 6s, 00 wethers 2lsr lie hoggets 4d, 7 ewes 14s 7d, l ewe 6s 2d, 8 ewes 12s 3d, 184 hoggets 16s 7d, 64 do. 16s lOd, 227 do. 16s 9d, 235 do. 13s 3d, 67 do. 90s, 415 do. 17s 3d, 151 do. 14s 4d, 105 do. 14s 3d, 86 wethers 19s. 199 hoggets 13s, 143 do. 14s, 40 ewes with lambs 14s. '18 empty ewes 12s, 211 ewes 13s 3d.

Store cattle: The only sales were: Two cows In calf £3 14s, 2 cows £3 15s, 3 bullocks £5 2s, 4 steers £3 ss. Amongst the line passed In were: 12 bullocks at £5 9sio_, 14 steers at £4 ss, ll heifers at £3,j 4 cows at £2 10s. After the luncheon adjournment Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgetv ana.fJD. offered store sheep. The entry, wh^ch,, was a very small one, was soon disposed of, as follows: 150 hoggets 14s lOd, 175 do. 153 '8d, 150 do. 15s, 55 ewes and lambs 21s oa, 37 do. £1 Os 9d, 40 do. I93:t)d: % Store cattle: There was a poor demand. Most of the lines wero passed m. The soles were: 2 bullocks £6, 19 mixed yearling calves £3 ls, 1 springing heifer £6, 5 heifers £5 os. Amongst the lines passed iivwere 19 cows m calf, £2 10s; 12 heifers m calf at £3 10s. This concluded the sale.
