LONDON, August 15
A select committee on the London traffic problem reported m favor of simplification of control. It states that the journeys . undertaken by passengers m Greater London total two thousand million yearly. It recommends that sole control be vested m a special traffic branch of the Board of Tirade, the county councils having the power to prescribe routes, timet ables, and the number of public vehicles m streets, subject to confirmation by the Traffic Board. It recommends special speed limits for motor traffic where the conditions are specially dangerous ; more refuges m streets, and closer control by the police.
The omnibus companies strongly oppose tho recommendations.
