Rain was falling this morning at Cape Palliser and New Plymouth; passing
showers at Tiritiri, Kawhia, Hokianga, Farewell Spit; and drizzling rain at Oama.ru, Dunedin, and Russell. STATE OF THE SEA. >• Rough seas were reported' at Cape Maria to-day, heavy at Napier and Cape Campbell, considerable at Cape Palliser and Greymouth, considerable swell at Kaipara. moderate seas at Russell, Hokianga, Manukau, Tiritiri, East Cape, Farewell 4ispit, Westport, Timaru and Oamaru; smooth elsewhere. WEATHER FORECAST. The report issued last night stated: — "Present indications are for increasing cloudiness, foggy and • drizzling rain m parts, strong westerly winds probable generally, and a falling barometer everywhere, though a slight temporary rise m the south As not improbable before a more decided fall takes place." To-day's forecast states: "The indications are for variable and strong breezes. The weather will probably be dull and overcast. Heavy, misty rain is" to" be expected. Barometer unsteady, but has a falling tendency. Tides high; sea rough on coast."
