THE STOLEN NECKLACE.

The pearl necklace, valued at £125,---000, stolen m transit by post between Paris and Hatton Gardens, being replaced by sugar, was registered at. Paris on Tuesday. It was addressed to Max Mayor, an Australian authority on pearls. The necklace contained sixty pearls. It was insured. It is assumed that the theft was f perpetrated m France. ' . (Received Ju*y 18, 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, July 17. The loss* of the necklace mentioned yesterday is the biggest sensation m the history of Hatton Garden,. Max v Mayer, the owner, was occupied a year m collecting the sixty-one pearls of which the missing jewels consisted, and which is believed to be the most valuable m the world. The price asked waa £150,000. It was insured for the full amount with Lloyd's, who have offered £10,000 "reward. The sugar used represented the weight of the pearls to a gramme. Several seals were apparently removed, and exactly similar ones added.
