MISHAP TO TOANUI.

NEW TUG,
WRECKAGE FOUND ON CORNISH
COAST

Lloyds' Penzance correspondent reports that a lifebuoy and a piece of a boat, both marked "Toanui, Glasgow," four life-jackets, and a piece of teak pannelling have been found at ■Saint Just, on the coast of Cornwall.
Mr de Lautour, chairman of directors of tho Sheepfarmers' Company, when advised of the above message this afternoon, stated that whilst the news was disquieting, the company was hopeful that it would get more favorable information m a few hours. Advice had been received that there had been heavy weather on the British coast, and that vessels were sheltering. The, company would bo fully advised as to the situation by it 3 Home correspondents. The Toanui is a well-equipped ocean tug buiit by Messrs Wm. Chambers ii.nd Co., of Rutherglen, a well-known Clyde firm of light-draught shipbuilders. Constructed under the personal supervision of Captain W. B. Sewell, the company's marine superintendent, who went Homo, specially for the purpose, she was reported to be ■ a first-class Clyde . job and perfectly well equipped for th.2 long voyage, to Now Zealand, which was being rttade under Captain ■Sewell's command, with a" crew of a. dozen men. Tho Toanui is a singlescrew steel tug about the size of ths Tuatea, powerfully engined and equipped .with modern salvage plant. St. Jiiit, where the wreckage has been found, is a Cornifh town seven miles west of Pen/.ance and not far from Land's End.
